Lizz Wright, American jazz and R&B singer and composer, winner of "Beyond Record of the Year" on DownBeat Magazine's 2011 Critics Poll for her latest album "Fellowship", fuses her roots in gospel with an eclectic blend of jazz/pop standards. As a singer Lizz Wright is uniquely blessed with a mellifluous, full-bodied contralto, emotionally-nuanced phrasing and an intuitive ability to swing.

Lizz Wright, being a Georgia pastor's daughter, started off as a gospel and choral singer. Her career, however, has focused more on jazz and pop than
pure gospel. Wright joined a vocal quartet „In the spirit" in 2000, which soon achieved critical acclaim, and in 2002 she signed a recording contract with Verve Records, where her musical compositions and vocal style led her to be compared to that of Norah Jones.

Her first album Salt reached number two on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz chart in 2004, and her second record Dreaming Wide Awake reached number one on the Top Contemporary Jazz Chart in 2005 and 2006. Since then, Wright has been the recipient of non-stop critical acclaim and ever-increasing audiences. She's released in all 4 albums.
