Aprašymas

London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gianandrea NosedaSeong-Jin Cho, piano

Friday, August 30st at 8 p.m., Dzintari Concert Hall

At the heart of the final weekend of the RĪGA JŪRMALA Music Festival is an orchestra which could easily be called the bravest and wittiest of the world’s orchestras. The concept of “boundaries” doesn’t seem to apply to the London Symphony Orchestra. Since its founding in 1904, the ensemble has always been avant garde, introducing or encapsulating the trends of the time. The Orchestra was the first to make records, film music, found its own record label, play at the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games and has taken contemporary music to new heights.

The LSO’s Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda and Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho first collaborated in a recording of Frédéric Chopin’s music. Today the musicians will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the RĪGA JŪRMALA Music Festival.
